Bio:

Dr. Elena Mazza has spent her 25 years as a social worker providing clinical services to vulnerable populations of children, adolescents, adults, and families, as well as teaching and supervising future social workers and mental health providers preparing for clinical practice. Starting her clinical career on a Children’s Crisis Intervention Services (CCIS) inpatient unit in the mid-1990s she became inherently aware of the needs of children and families that are affected by mental and emotional health difficulties. Dr. Mazza began providing in-community services to children and families in need of mental health and behavioral health service with the Children’s System of Care in 2001. As a clinical social worker, Dr. Mazza believes that the therapeutic process is built by collaborating with youth and families with primary attention given to their personal choices and strengths.

Throughout her career, Dr. Mazza has engaged in lifelong learning and encourages others to do the same. Along with her clinical experience, Dr. Mazza had a 20+ year career as a university professor teaching social work to undergraduate and graduate students. Combined, these experiences lend themself to the philosophy at Empower U as an organization dedicated to supporting the professional growth and career goals of community resource providers, while also ensuring that clinical and behavioral health services are facilitated by IIC and BA providers using a wraparound model of care focused on strengths-based practice that is culturally relevant, evidence-based, and driven by youth and family voice and choice.
